Scope

Installation scopes we handle

Every install starts with a site visit and a load calculation, not a phone quote and a truck-day.

  • Standard window units, single or building-floor batches.
  • Casement windows with accordion frame installation.
  • Single-zone ductless mini-split for one room or open-plan apartment.
  • Multi-zone ductless with two to four indoor heads.

  • Central-AC replacement in brownstones and small buildings.
  • Air handler swap-outs in apartment mechanical closets.
  • Condenser relocation on rooftops and courtyards.
Process

How we scope an installation

  1. Site visit

We measure rooms, check facade access, review electrical capacity and confirm building rules with the managing agent.

  2. Load calculation

Manual J-style load in BTU per room. System sized to the load, not the room area.

  3. Written scope

Equipment, line-set path, mounting, electrical work, permits and total price in writing before deposit.

  4. Install and commissioning

Vacuum, pressure test, refrigerant charge, delta-T and airflow logged; you receive the commissioning sheet.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AC installation cost in a NYC apartment?

Window-unit installation is $180 to $320 per unit; casement installation with an accordion frame is $320 to $560. Ductless mini-split single-zone runs $3,800 to $6,500; multi-zone runs $8,500 to $18,000. Central AC replacement inside an apartment starts at $12,000 and depends heavily on ductwork and outdoor-unit placement.

How do you size AC for a NYC apartment?

We do a Manual J-style load calculation using room dimensions, glazing type, orientation and floor position. We do not use the old rule of 20 BTU per square foot. Undersized systems short-cycle and never dehumidify; oversized systems dehumidify poorly and cost more to run.

Do you handle co-op and condo board approvals?

Yes. For ductless and central installs we prepare equipment cut sheets, load calculations, our NYC HVAC contractor license, our $10M certificate of insurance and Local Law 97 compliance notes when required. Tell us the managing agent when you request the site visit.

Do you install cold-climate heat pumps that also heat in winter?

Yes. Cold-climate hyper-heating mini-splits from Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and Daikin are our default choice for NYC electrification retrofits. They cool in summer and heat in winter down to 5 F outdoor with no auxiliary backup, and lower with backup electric resistance.

How long does an installation take?

Window install: one hour per unit. Single-zone ductless: one working day. Multi-zone ductless: two to three days. Central AC replacement: two to five days depending on ductwork condition and access. We give a firm window in the written scope.

Do you take away the old equipment?

Yes. We recover refrigerant per EPA Section 608, disconnect and remove the old equipment, and file the recovery paperwork. That is a legal requirement, not an optional extra.
